Sweeter Weather

image

It’s always been so hard for me dress for that in between weather.  You know like when the sun is hot but the it’s kinda windy, that’s what I’m talking about.  So what do I do?  I wear my wool sweater and roll up my jeans to show my ankles.  That’s the best of both worlds.  Oh, and one other thing that bothers me is wearing a wool sweater and having my hair down.  It makes me feel like I’m being smothered.  Why do I still do it then?

“Being tender and open is beautiful. As a woman, I feel continually shhh’ed. Too sensitive. Too mushy. Too wishy washy. Blah blah. Don’t let someone steal your tenderness. Don’t allow the coldness and fear of others to tarnish your perfectly vulnerable beating heart. Nothing is more powerful than allowing yourself to truly be affected by things. Whether it’s a song, a stranger, a mountain, a rain drop, a tea kettle, an article, a sentence, a footstep, feel it all – look around you. All of this is for you. Take it and have gratitude. Give it and feel love.” —Zooey Deschanel (via sugar-and-heartbreak)

Sunday evening I was sitting at home trying to find the Oscars on tv, which I forgot was on cable (how disappointing) and stopped in my tracks to watch Cartier’s new three-minute commercial.  It was absolutely captivating, not only for the length of the commercial, but because it was so beautifully done.  I read where it took two years to make, if that gives any indication of the amount of detail put into it.

I’m a fan of commercials, being an advertising major, but even my boyfriend was sitting in silence.  Cartier did a brilliant job of placement (Sunday evening on every channel at the same time) and length of time of the ad.  One would argue that a commercial doesn’t need to exceed 30 seconds, but I think that’s what made this commercial so special and alluring. Watch it below:
